Oversight Team

The purpose of the UWEI Oversight Team is to oversee the work of the Initiative. The team meets quarterly to discuss strategy and review progress in implementing the recommendations of the Utah Women’s College Task Force. Specifically, this team will focus on processes and accountability, as well as the “Big Gear” initiatives identified in the Task Force Recommendation Report presented to Governor Herbert, which will ultimately result in measurable success. Team members are key change agents who represent the five organizing partners of the Initiative. These individuals are charged with promoting the Initiative and influencing community leaders in higher education, business, and the community at large. Through their stewardship, the Oversight Team will ensure that women are more strongly represented in achieving the goal of having 66% of Utahns aged 20-64 have a postsecondary certificate or degree is attained by the year 2020.

  Objectives

  1. Create support and awareness of the work of the initiative through a multi-faceted public relations and social marketing strategy. Identify and implement strategies to “influence the influencers” at all levels of higher education, government, business, and the community.
  2. Achieve progress in legislative funding and changes, which promote postsecondary education for women in the state of Utah.
  3. Ensure fiscal responsibility in administering the Initiative as well as the development of funds through various sources to support the Initiative moving forward.
  4. Evaluate progress toward achieving Utah Women’s College Task Force recommendations by providing input to continuing research and the strategic planning process.
  5. Oversee the engagement of human capital in the Initiative through both paid and volunteer resources and the cultivation of strategic partnerships.

Advisory Committee
